Step-by-Step Guide
Are you in charge of rostering students and teachers?
Data and Rostering
-
Step 1: Setting Student ID Format
- For New Istation users the student ID format will need to be set for your district/campus
- How to Set Student ID Format
- Please send your student ID format to Istation at support@istation.com or call 1-866-883-7323. We will need this information to be set in our system.
- Students will be associated to the student’s ID number. If Istation already has this information within the system, please disregard this.
- Student ID Format Examples
- Student ID format is usually the local ID format that can be pulled from your Student Information System(SIS)
- Example formats are “7-digit numbers, no leading zeros” and “9-digit numbers, no leading zeros.”
-
Step 2: Importing Rosters
- Rostering types include Clever, OneRoster/Classlink, and uploading a CSV file.
- Rostering with Clever
- This type of import is used to import Managers, Teachers, Students, Demographics, and Classrooms.
- Please request a connection to Istation via your Clever administrator account. Please visit our Clever article for more details.
- Rostering with OneRoster/Classlink
- The first step of this is going to involve setting up the roster so that Istation and ClassLink are synced to show the right students in the right classrooms and the right staff attached to those classes.
- Istation currently supports both OneRoster 1.0 and 1.1.
- Visit our OneRoster/Classlink article for more information
- Prior to processing an import job, it is important to verify campus codes in Istation. Verification or entering of campus codes can be done by selecting the Administration tab. Next, select Import & Roster Management and then Campus Codes in the left menu. If there are multiple changes to be made at once, a template can be downloaded from the page and then uploaded with the new information.
- Visit our Campus Codes article to set your codes.
- Uploading a CSV File
- This file includes Teacher/Student/Classroom Information. This import will create teacher and student accounts and will place students into their assigned classes. Teachers will receive an email upon account creation containing their login information.
- Please visit our Importing Managers, Teachers, and Students article for more information.

Step 3 (Optional): Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Securely authenticate on many different platforms using only one set of usernames/passwords.
- About SSO
- Single Sign-On is supported for both students and teachers. By default, when a student sign-on is detected, it will launch the runtime/app and log them in. When a teacher sign-on is detected, it will log them into the Report and Management Portal.
- Visit our Single Sign-On article for more information.
- The Clever SSO connection does not require additional configuration.
